Spudnik Garden
A Keep Maryland Beautiful and Master Gardener Community Project
Located on the grounds of the historic All Saints Episcopal Church in southern Maryland, Project Spudnik is led by the youth groups of All Saints and Broadview Baptist Church with help from local middle and high schools. The Project started in 2016 under the auspices of the Maryland Master Gardener program and has been growing strong since. In 2019 the Spudnikers were recognized by the Governor's Office of Service and Volunteerism for their contributions to their community.
The youth built and maintain the garden, and they grow a variety of fruits, vegetables, potatoes, as well as many flowers and herbs. A pollinator garden and an irrigation system were recently added. The produce is donated to food banks in Calvert County (460 pounds in 2019!). Interested in learning organic gardening, helping feed the hungry, and have fun at the same time? Join us today!
